Dear mouse,

Australia is one country where Jose Rizal had never set foot in his travels but a 2.2 hectare park will be developed in his honor.

The place is Campbelltown in New South Wales, Australia where there is a large concentration of Filipino immigrants.

Here is excerpt of the news:

Consul General Eva Betita reported to DFA Secretary Alberto Romulo that the Rizal Park will be situated in what used to be an empty reserve owned by the city government.

“The project is the brainchild of the Rizal Park Movement, a group of five Filipino-Australian associations that banded together in 2006 with the common vision of making the reserve into a park,” the DFA said on its website (www.dfa.gov.ph).

There were already places in Australia where Rizal was honored with a street name and a monument.

You can see the different countries where you will find Rizal’s monuments here.

Oo nga Ms. Cat. Rizal had never travelled to Australia but you see, even them (the fil-australians) are honoring him.

I must say, with all his accomplishments, Rizal is indeed a renaissance man.

  3. Silver says:

Yeah. I really liked his writings especially the Noli and Fili.

Tama yung sinabi nya before the 1896 revolution: that the Filipinos are ill-prepared for it.
