Dear mouse,
Some people need to be educated as to what advocacy means.
In simple language and from the Webster Dictionary, it means to support a cause.
Some years back, bloggers took note that everytime you type pinay or Filipina, what comes to your searches are the pinay dating sites, pinay sexy images and pinay mail-order brides.
Jonas Diego came up with a logo containing the word pinay which was changed to Filipina now
To quote Jonas Diego:
The self-proclaimed mission of the movement back then was to balance out the Pinay’s online image as it appears on search engines.
The Filipina is also a blogger, a doctor, a lawyer, a home-maker, and an artist and we wanted the online world, through the eyes of search engines, to also get to know these other sides of her.
The advocacy was to present the Filipinas’ other facets thru blogs, articles and writing projects.
The strategies include google bombing and SEO campaign.
The plan of action includes as spelled out in one blog that I discussed in the Filipina image series and I quote:
Showcasing through our blogs, the stories about the loving Filipina wives and mothers, the professionals, and outstanding bloggers. The Pinoy Moms Network is gaining ground among Filipina mothers around the world.
From the statement of Jonas Diego and from this plan of action which was defined as strategy by the blogger, MY SIMPLE MIND’S UNDERSTANDING IS TO PRESENT ARTICLES ABOUT FILIPINAS WHICH PORTRAY THEM IN A GOOD LIGHT, AS MOTHERS, AS HARDWORKING CAREER WOMEN, AS BRILLIANT BLOGGERS OR ANY PINAY THAT HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE GOOD IMAGE OF A FILIPINA.
I joined this cause when I put up my blog FILIPINA-Ilaw ng Tahanan which I changed to GLOBAL PINAY because the former blog title is limiting only to mothers.
In any goal, whatever courses of action that do not contribute to its attainment should be excluded. In this case, the goal is to project a good image of the Filipinas.
SO WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THE LINKS AND THE ARTICLE ABOUT A FILIPINA WHO WAS THE SUBJECT OF NEGATIVE BLOGS OF A BRITISH GUY DOING IN THE SUPPOSED SEO CAMPAIGN TO RESHAPE FILIPINA IMAGE. The article is even entitled CONNED by A Filipina.
Pakiesplika nga? PAra bang sa isang billboard na nagpopromote ng magandang kutis pagkatapos may malaking taghiyawat sa mukha ng model. (untog-untog ulo)
Wait you may tell me that the purpose is to present her side of the story to clear her name.
But honey, it was clear that the judging is left to the readers after the said FILIPINA admitted that she lied to the guy. And yet, the banner story contains the statement, justice to the FILIPINA. What justice? The promise of marriage which went kaput because of the lies of the girl? My foot.
One of observations I have in reading the blog (I AM not surprised if I am going to be BLOCKED AGAIN. I treat that as affirmation of my intimidating persona as a blogger because I don’t mince words if I find something does not appear right in my obsessive-compulsive world of perfection and harmony) is the appearance of the dating sites adverts in the said website. Nagpapatawa ba kayo? To top it all, there is even a tip how to filter dating sites. Gawddd.
Pakisampal nga ako Frat.
If the excuse is to counter the impact of the negative blogs of the British guy, then by all means, why put the links of the said blogs.
In ADVERTISING, when you promote a PRODUCT, you highlight the good features and leave out the bad.
Can one be accused of whitewashing if the love story of the British guy and the Filipina is not presented in that supposed SEO campaign Filipina image themed blog?
NO. Not unless you want to ride on the controversy of the story which is not appropriate for a supposed to be wholesome blog.
No. Not unless your purpose is to seek justice for the Filipina which is clearly stated in this banner story.
If you chanced to click on the Filipina Images link from Timothy Elllis Cumper’s (alias Tim Cumper, Ellumbra) sites, please read the true story of the Tierra Maria Estates Scam Hoax or Mayen’s story AND
judge for yourself. Justice to the Filipina! Save our Filipinas from Exploitation.
Aren’t those statements contradicting. “Judge for yourself” and you are enjoined to give justice to the FILIPINA.
And this is the comment from the blogger:
…Anyway, Please read the site to know more of the strategy. We didn’t take up the cause of the girl to reshape the Filipina image online.
The blog has a mission to reshape Filipina image. Anyone who reads the blog is expecting that each and every article that is written in that blog should promote good Filipina image.
The trouble is the presentation is meant to vindicate the Filipina but the disclaimer points to
leaving the responsibility of judging to the readers.
The dance is not in sync with the music. Ano ba talaga?
As I have been saying educate me. This time about SEO campaign and I will tell you that balancing does not mean presenting a balanced story in one blog but to come up with articles, blogs and stories
about good Filipina image that would appear in the search engines together with the dating sites, pinay sexy and pinay mail-order bride.

ADVOCACY came from the Latin word:
Ad- “concerning”
VOCALIS – “able to speak”, “having a notable voice”
this is depending on how you will use the entire Latin word mix together.
first of all i will not sampal you, baka masira ang kutis ng isang Pinay. let me be the devil’s advocate. speaking like a priest, although i am just an ex-seminarian.
my wife is a member of the Lions Club of America (i am not). all of the affairs of the club, and conventions, my wife always tag me along with her, as her escort. i have seen plenty of Americans (predominantly Caucasian) who are married to Pinays and they talk highly of their spouses and said they have been married for a long time with them because the Pinay are very loving and caring and most of all understanding. does this sums up What a Pinay Is?
Another story. 10 years ago, at the Peninsula Hotel in Makati, there is a Hostess at the lobby lounge of the hotel. her name is M….. 26 years old. the then Consul General of the Netherlands in the Phils. saw her and he fell in love with M….. he courted the M… in the Pinoy tradition and they have been married now for 12 yearsnow. how did i know this, the Consul General is the best friend of my brother in law. does this sums up again What a Pinay is?
Last story, i swear. many moons back, i was the Head Concierge at the SWISSOTEL of Chicago. the resident general manager is Mr. V…… he was married to a Pinay. the Pinay was married but separated from her husband in Pinas because he was a very brutal husband. her name is Manang C……Mr. V….. was the GM before of a big hotel chain in Saudi Arabia, Manang C…. was the head housekeeper there. Mr. V… fell in love with Manang, but Manang got scared, resigned and went home to Pinas. suddenly Mr. V knocked at the door of Manang and asked for her hands in marriage. Mr. V followed the customs of Pinoy courting and when they got married, he immediately adopted the three kids of Manang. Manang and Mr. V never had kids of their own, but Mr. V. have loved his adopted children very much.we still have communications with Manang and Mr. V.Does this sums up again What a Pinay Is?
DO I NEED TO SAY MORE??
Frat,
I know several interracial love stories that could have been featured in the SEO campaign to reshape Filipina image especially that of courtship and marriage between Filipinas and foreign husbands.
There are bloggers who have been married or are still married to husbands of different ethnicity.
That should have been the one featured to educate the readers of how these Filipinas were courted and won by their husbands. And how they adjusted to their married lives.
I know that. I’ve been married to one and was engaged to someone who died. (sa sama yata ng loob), ooops.
Kaya lang baka sabihin, I am using myself as a standard. Naah. Decent women still follow the old traditions even in the liberal US of A.
I know British guys. When they fall in love, it’s really true love.
I know 2. King Edward who abdicated the throne for the divorced Mrs. Simpson and the ex-husband of Princess Di who’s now married to his only love Camilla.
Akala mo sino na ha.
I know several friends who are married to Caucasians whose husbands are going to get “loco” if their Filipina wives are going to leave them.
