Ang Parabula ng “Prodigal Son”

Dear mouse,

Para sa iba pang parabula, pumunta sa Mga Bugtong at Parabula.

Let me first give you a Cat’s quote.

Cats keep their cool, no matter what. Even when they do
things like fall or lose their balance, they’ll walk away with an attitude
that seems to say, ‘I meant to do that.’

The most widely interpreted parable from the Bible is that of the prodigal son.
1. The son returned after squandering the fortune that he asked from his father before
he left the abode.
2. His father forgave him even before he could ask for apology and express his repentance.
3. The older brother’s feelings towards the father’s forgiveness to the lost son.

I have to confess that aside from being motivated by some readers to write about parables
(number one topic researched and one of the most requested subjects) I have also to use this parable to get a point across to my detractors.

These are ghosts of my past who still haunt me in my archives as well as other weblogs….

I am accused of a heroic act of taking a cause for the non-deserving planet inhabitants by defending their “crimes” to these righteous people. It has been more than a year and my
defense for an eighteen year old columnist which earned for me to land in the museum of hoaxes and a webpage totally dedicated to call me all sort of names has not died down. People
who crawled and read of the blog entries memorializing that “incident”still leave nasty remarks. One reader even has the nerve to leave a remark at the PCIJ reminding this incident
when all I asked from the PCIJ people is a credit for a research they use. Di ba kakainis yong iba ang hinihingi mo tapos babasahan ka ng “kasalanan” mo as if I have no right to ask for a rectification of an error kasi ganoon ako. Arggh. Humans.

Sorry to disappoint these people that I do not include a new year’s resolution that will make them happy by sealing my lips. Not even if they do not visit my blog. My readers come mostly from the US; only a little than 20 per cent come from the Philippines. Could be because it takes a while for people to open my webpage using dial-ups?

Most of my readers come from employees of companies with internet connections. Sixty per cent comes from Google search and only a small fraction comes from self referring/bookmarkers. And people who appreciate my writings must have possess intelligence level to understand the serious side of the humor presented.

I will still say a word or two or even dedicate my blog to someone who needed some soul lifting, morale boosting even if I have to lose some people who like the elder brother in the parable, resented his father’s forgiveness to his younger brother who he thought deserve some form of punishment instead of welcome celebration.

So I am a sucker for underdogs. Isn’t that sweet, a ca t for a” dog”.

What I can not understand is when people do not realize that even the worst criminals need lawyers for defense. The people I defended are not criminals. Their “crime” can be attributed to their youth.

I can still find some of these people leave comments in my comment box. No worry, that does not raise my blood pressure. Their goal to lose my credibility as a blogger backfired. After two years(monitoring) my blog, it registered to close to 200,000 unique hits and triple page views. The webpage dedicated to me, it’s gone. The people who joined the fray had remained anonymous while other bloggers who still harbor animosities for the Cat have hardly passed the 10,000 hits.

Tama ka dyan sister. Don’t mind those trash-holes since all they care about is the attention they get from this. They’re just using you to get all that attention. Oh wait… did I repeat myself just then. Oh never mind. I’m digressing

Anyway, the way I do it is just pretend those trolls don’t exist. A mark of a smart person is the ability to respect and accept the opinions of others regardless if it agrees with their own.

Bilib nga po ako sa inyo kasi you write what you think. Ako eh medyo mahiyain pa at pasulpot sulpot lang ang mga opinions ko. Keep it up. And let those others just wallow and revel in their own mediocrity.

Blogging is really an unappreciated hobby. And I feel bad that some even would consider these actions towards you. If it makes you feel better, I hardly miss any of your posts and I read it everyday. No kidding!

I really like your posts since it’s neither offensive nor is it pretentious. It’s really sincere and honest. I sometimes can hear your voice just reading those posts.

So thanks C and may your tribe increase. As well as your readers, hits, and links.

    Peace out.

    ,
    thanks jobert.

Well some people do not believe in agreeing to disagree. They want to change your opinion to conform to theirs.

They forget that I am a cat-person and cats don’t like change without their consent.
