Dear mouse,
I do not know them personally– these blogging gods in the blogosphere who are in the warpath after the “kid blogger finally stood up” but I can say that the male god has a point in raising the issue of misrepresentation.
I downloaded the presentation (allelujah, I seldom download but I like to forget that my doctor increased again the dosage of one of my medications, so SUFFEEEER).
I got wind of this mispresentation- of- the- presenter- in- her- presentation issue from kapenilattex.
When presenting the market demographics of an industry (this time, it is the blogosphere) to show to the prospective advertisers the vast untapped medium for the promotion of their products, you do not start with GLOBAL —> LOCAL —-> and then my FAVORITE THINGS errmm blogs.
It should have been GLOBAL—>LOCAL and the blogs that represent the different categories of blogs that constitute the whole blogosphere. Who are the movers and the shakers?
What blogs can be tapped to reach a certain market segment? Who are into politics and are often visited by politically-minded blog readers who could be the target market segment of the advertisers? Who are the teen bloggers whose visitors are teen themselves who may be interested in products for their ages? And blah blah.
Presenting the “emerging influential bloggers” which do not have impressive traffic stats and hardly been in the blogosphere for six months could disappoint advertising execs who want a wider reach for their advertisement. I am not saying that the blogs are not good. Nanalo sila di ba? Popularity or camaraderie. :)
The trends should have shown the growth of the blogosphere. Like in 2003, there were only a few registered bloggers in the Philippines According to Blogs. Now yuga’s Pinoy Top Blogs boasts of more than 1,500 blogs. There are several blogs that are not even registered in the said portal. Comparative stats help show the growth trend which is needed to convince people that the industry is not in its twilight yet not even in its infancy stage.
No data to present? But that is exactly why a research is necessary in making this kind of presentation. Demographic profiling.
If some people think that I wrote this article to get traffic. Nagkakamali sila. Because I do not derive my traffic from my kamag-anak and my clique. Tumatayo lang ako sa Bay Bridge pag rush hour, grabe ang traffic doon.

Perhaps the issue was that of the level of detail, or how comprehensive, the presentation went. I certainly don’t think it was an issue of misrepresentation at all.
that’s what i was thinking too, but then, I looked at the motive of the female god. That is to promote not only her favorite
thingserrm blogs but also her projects to come. Not bad. Not ethical. Anybody who is in the position and has the clout would also do the same. When I say misrepresentation here, what I mean is she has wrongly presented the real blogsphere by limiting it to a few blogs.
