Faith versus medicine-Does Praying healing work Part 7

Dear mouse,

The Department of Health released this advice for the people who have been going to Father Fernando Suarez.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III issued the reminder to sick patients who have been going to “healing priest” Fr. Fernando Suarez.

Duque is concerned that patients have been relying on faith-healing alone and have lost their trust in medical science.

In an interview on Wednesday, Duque said the health department did not frown on Fr. Suarez. He noted that Suarez’s healing conventions have lifted the spirits of patients as well as their families.

“Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with it. It’s faith healing. It’s going to rebound to the families,” the health chief said.

However, Duque said patients should also seek medical help — even if they were prayed over by Suarez. They should not forego their treatment, the health secretary reminded.

“They must take care of their health,” he said. “They have to see a doctor to understand the problem, the diseases.”

I still continue to see my doctor because I have other health issues such as diabetes which surprisingly are better managed now and my hypertension which has gone down by more than 60 from the regular 170 diastolic to 110. My doctor still scratches his head about the result of the latest catscan and blood tests. But he is still subjecting me to follow-up examinations since he said that C just come back and is detected when it is already beyond healing.

I agree with Dr. Doque that to understand the disease, one should see the doctor. With the understanding, a person strengthens his/her faith in the miracle because there is that before and after medical records as evidence of the miracle.

However, I do not subscribe to what he said about the people losing their trust in medical science so they see Father Suarez. It is more of desperation and hope that drive them to see the healing priest because medical science can no longer do anything about the disease. I remember the gastroenterologist telling me that all she had to do is to open me up, remove whatever was found in the CATscan and will not touch anything if there is no more use for incision.

Some people did not know that my remote healing was made possible by another medical doctor, Doctor Emer who is based in the Philippines.

He emailed me that in case there is no more remedy, he will refer me to the last resort and I did not know that it was Father Suarez, his childhood friend. I thanked him for the thought but with the diagnosis that the disease has already metastized and may have already affected my brain, I thought I no longer need it.

My friend in New Jersey told me that Father Suarez does not heal physical illnesses but emotional and spiritual as well. Her close friend told her the story that his son reformed from his bad habits when he was prayed over by the healing priest.

I believe that faith healing and medical science should complement each other. Medical science does the diagnosing, medication and confirming if there is indeed really a miracle in faith healing. Faith healing comes when the medical science has given up. But despite the findings, many skeptics would say, baka naman, nagkamali ang doctor sa diagnosis. That’s faith where one believes that is beyond believing.

Baloney! That’s what I call this thing: Baloney. Actually, it is “bologna.” It’s a sausage like thing that tastes nothing like Philippine sausage. Italian, I think. Long and big and greasy. If we can make our sausage as long and as big, we’ll be famouse world-wide.
What has this got to do with Prayer and Healing? Nothing. When you pray, whether you believe in prayer or not, you go into a space between your thoughts and this action alone produces healing “peptides” and these peptides attach themselves to receptors located in every cell of our body called monocytes. Peptides heal you and strengthens your immune system. That’s how prayer heals.
    Sausage, anyone?

Many come to healing sessions of Fr. Fernando Suarez with different reasons: 1. Their sickness is terminal, cannot be cured by medical science; 2. Instant healing of the sick (like those who cannot walk or see) which will take weeks, months or years if treated thru conventional medical means.; 3. Healing is free, as long as you have the faith in our Lord Jesus (with the rising cost of commodities, although the government claimed a better economy, most people cannot afford a medical insurance, doctor or hospital bill, cost of medicines and other related medical expenses).
I have experienced the healing sessions of Fr. Fernando and I must say that others should attend also to one of his healing sessions so that they may also experience and benefit the healing miracles that God had given thru Fr. Fernando.

this is what i believe in:
i believe that there is a Power that makes us human as a conduit to send the Eternal Graces to people who Believe.
it is just a matter of putting the belief inside our hearts.
HOWEVER, there are some people who has attracted so many followers and think they are already God.
    AMEN!!!
    Pahingi nga na langis!!!

  9. I just hope that we can ensure the safety and welfare of the thousands of believers who flock to Father Fernando Suarez. I heard that when he went to Mandaluyong, 100 people fainted.

I’d like to share the news report with you and your readers: http://www.gmanews.tv/largevideo/latest/17479/100-faint-at-healing-mass-of-Fr-Fernando-Suarez

  10. Cathy says:

    Thank you Lester.

I noticed that the mayor of MAndaluyong provided
police and emergency units for that particular healing session which was reported to have been attended by 30,000.

Even if some officials ban him, his healing power will continue to attract the sick and the desperate.

I saw on tv a few nights ago. a woman was lining up for father suarez’ healing and she got very impatient. because of the long long wait. she got out of the line, and was very mad when interviewed. sabi nya, bat pa daw sya magtya-tyaga pumila e pwede naman sya pumunta sa mga doktor at espesyalista pa. kesa naman sa pumuila sa ng pagka-tagal tagal.

it was funny at first, pero na-isip ko, pumunta lang ba yung babae for free healing? nasaan ang faith nya doon? kung hindi sya ma-heal ni fr. suarez, does it mean for her na peke si father?

  12. Cathy says:

Maybe that woman does not have life threatening disease.

In the first place, bakit di na lang kasi pumunta sa doktor.
