Filipinos in the US; what’s the real score?

Dear mouse,
cathcath
Salve Duplito of the Moneysmarts, Philippine Daily Inquirer succumbed to my threat that if she is not going to publish my article, I would vanish her to the Venus planet with my magic wand.

She has been interviewing OFWs, Pinoys in Europe and United States as to the impact of the financial crisis to their jobs, to their families and to their savings.

While other interviewees focused on their personal experience, I chose to discuss the effect of the crisis to the Filipinos in relation to their immigration status.

Please read the article or else I am going to point my magic wand…yes to you…reading this and change you into…
zzzzzzzz. mwehehe.

Seriously, comments and violent reactions are welcome.

pangalan ba ng tao yong Salve Duplito. very Latin. SALVE in Latin and in English( depending on how you will translate it), could mean Goodbye, Farewell, or To Bid Goodday. DUPLITO (depending how you want to translate it) could be: Duplicated, Two Sides, Two Faced.
let me try to understand this article:
… take the point of the credit card or plastic money. in the U.S. if you know how to pay your UTANG, the more you will be ggiven so much card. one will be receiving plenty of checks offering you to sign and call the lending agency. it is because you know how to pay the UTANG. in the Pinas, if you have plenty of UTANG you will be branded as BERTONG UTANGERO or MATILDANG BAON SA UTANG. in Pinas kasi, one cannot understand if the person is really asking for UTANG. ang UTANG in Pinas is sometimes PAHINGI.
… take the point of 401K, where in the Phils. did any company gave such priviledte to their employer the 401k. in my wife’s company, for every dollar you contribute, their company puts in a dollar also. because of the no. of years my wife has been in the company, the two of us is enjoying the benefits of the 401k. mayroon kayang 401k ang San Miguel Corp. i really don’t know.
… take the example of pinoys who were not able to meet the years requirements when a hopsital petitioned a nurse. nurses are required to pass the board exams in the states. if they don’t pass the exams, they need to go home or else they are then TNT. but which country in world has ggiven such opportunities to so many nationalities who come to the states and seek their fortune. the states even accepted the man who bomb the empire state building to study here on a studen visa.
this is my sentiment to those who are now criticizing the states for what is happening in the global market. it is not the fault of the U.S. that our economy is not good. if another country’s economy is bad, then maybe the leader of that country is corrupt and does not know how to handle his/her job. America did not ask any country to use the U.S. dollars. each country has their own monetary system. if the value of the monetary system of an individual country has deteriorated because of what is happening in the states, that is not the problem of my country UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Baka Salvacion ang pangalan niya which is a common name in Bicol REgion.

Blame the US banks, not the US economy as a whole.

“if the value of the monetary system of an individual country has deteriorated because of what is happening in the states, that is not the problem of my country UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”

The world economy is interconnected because of trade so it’s the problem of the USA as well.
