My ex-hubby’s sister has a unique way of sending her Christmas greetings to the family. She was raised as a Jew and observes Hannukah and is married to a son of a Christian pastor and therefore is a Christian by marriage.
Instead of sending Christmas or electronic cards, she sends a personalized letter together with the picture of the family. The letter is not the type of Happy Holidays greeting but instead a some sort of report card that summarizes what happened to the family for the whole year and the plan for immediate future.
On children:
XXX left his job in May after four years of hard work as a group home counselor, and went to Germany for the World Cup. He planned to travel for as long as his savings lasted, but along the way he got a job teaching English to preschoolers in China.ZZZ is enjoying a new undertaking in addition to modern dance in New York. She has enrolled in Columbia University’s post-baccalaureate premed program, in the hopes of not having to be a starving artist forever.
On Husband:
Hubby is in Switzerland at an international education conference. We are looking forward to two weeks en famille in Venice, Italy.Herself:
I am having a wonderful second career doing legal and policy consulting for nonprofits and foundations. For those who don’t already know, my mother died in May. My siblings and I were at her side 24/7 during her last days, and it felt to all of us like the right kind of closure.
This is the first Christmas that I will not be celebrating in San Francisco together with the late mother-in-law.During December, the in-laws saw to it that wherever they were, they rushed home to be with the old lady.
To her and family, I wish her Happy Hannukah and
