Dear mouse,
Sassy called it Family Ties and Politics while I used the term political dynasties because this project of mine is only focused on the family members of the congressional district representatives.
I initially planned to have one-time presentation but upon seeing the number of representatives that belong to families of politicians that would need about three or more pages of one day blog, I decided to do it on installment/ alphabetical basis.
Here is the first set. Out of 32 members with last names starting with letter A, there are 13 representatives with parents, siblings, grandparents and spouses as former or current elected officials. This represents 40 per cent of the total.

;) What diligence! Ang sipag mo and you’ve got a long way to go, my friend, because political dynasties are “normal operating procedure” here in the Philippines. They seem to have forgotten that these offices are elective offices, not birthrights (and of course some of them treat their constituents like they treat servants in their own households). :x
Antonino-Custodio had grandparents who were both senators – Gaudencio and Magnolia.
Ay sus – wrong emoticon …. dapat eto —>
Sorry, I think ex-Senator Magnolia is still alive.
b,
habit ko na yan siguro mag-imbestiga. research din ang aking forte.
mahaba pa ito pero isasama ko na rin ang mga professions nila later.
tingnan ko kung ilang attorney at ilang ang businessmen.
ImbestiCATor ka pala. :P It would be interesting to know how many of our tongressmen are liars, er, lawyers. ;)
BIlib ako sa resourcefulness mo, Cat.. and to think nasa America ka,hahaha.
The PCIJ (I think) published a book and a CD on this matter before..the list was long, very very long.
B,
I think there are more low-yers.
:)
Ajay,
Yep, I checked the PCIJ site. The title of the book is RULE MAKERS.
It’s about their demographic profile, assets and political lineage.
I will be just be dealing on their political lineage and professions.
I am covering the lawmakers of the 13th Congress (July 2004- July 2005).
Hello Cathy! ang galing ng research mo. bilib ako. and hoping madagdagan pa ang list. naku, it means talamak talaga ang political dynasties sa tin.
thanks luchie. may kasunod. sorry late ang response ko.
Ayos! Waiting for the next installments. :P
