Dear mouse,
We really love ghost stories and dig ghosts of the past. I can see that my file in the museum of hoaxes is being accessed by some curious people who want to find out who this Ca t is. My cathcathprofile is visible again in the Google search-another sign that too many are clicking that page.
Nah, it’s not my nemesis in the other forum. He linked you back to a defunct web-ezine where a US expat called me Madcat for castigating him on writing an article about the hospitality girls in Cebu while claiming that he was promoting the Philipines to the BPOs.
I will give you a backgrounder.
I was a “problem child” when I was in the elementary school. Problem means I was always sent to the Guidance Counsellor for mischiefs. Mischiefs as in reading comics conveniently concealed inside a folder or playing chess with a boy classmate who always brought that mini-magnetic chess in his bag. (My mom banned comics at home). When the teacher went out for a break while we were made to conduct a little experiment, boy and I played chess. Teacher came back and hauled us to the Guidance Office. Sayang checkmate na sana.
Then I committed a more serious offense–that of drawing my teacher in two- piece swim suit.
I thought she did not appreciate the drawing since I put some curves in her otherwise bamboo-pole shaped body.
The good old Guidance Counsellor did not reprimand me. She did not call for my mom. She stared at the drawing and she made me fill up a form. That was a form to join a drawing contest. I won. Then she saw to it that I participated in all school activities that would harness my artistic talent.
Museum of hoaxes- The story of Faye Nicolas and the mother and Patricia Evangelista made me the villain of the hour at the height of the controversy. A blog was dedicated to negative comments directed to the Cat asking for my apology for defending Patricia and for not condemning the mother and the daughter who spun a fairy tale story.
Paano naman ako mag-aapologize, I see nothing wrong defending a neophyte writer in the person of Patricia Evangelista whose only fault was to believe Faye’s story. She was 19 and a veteran journalist was nailing her to the wall.
With regards, the mother and the daughter team, I understood the motivation that led to the escapist and attention-getting story. They were abandoned by the father of the child. He went back to his first family. Alam naman ninyo ako pusong mamon. Naiiyak ako. Why should I join the people who wanted to “pelt them with stones? ”
Although I eat crabs, I try not to allow that crab mentality to seep in my system.
What point am I driving at in my little anecdote about me as a problem child, as a defender of the the Universe Oops mali, Patricia Evangelista and Faye and what is its relevance to the kid blogger hulabaloo?
IT IS THE APPROACH dear…
While many proclaim themselves to be gurus in parenting, it seems that they do not know how to handle situations that involve kids.
Here in the States, you can’t just ask a minor accused of a misdemeanour or a crime without the presence of a parent.
It is not like when you see him anywhere, you can make him confess or admit of any wrongdoing ; not even just simply interrogate him .
When my superior approached me in the hallway to explain why I was absent from the meeting, I advised her to wait in my office. It was not a place to thresh out problems where onlookers can’t just help but eavesdrop.
The Guidance counsellor directed my hyperactivity to something more productive with the right approach.
As I have been saying, I had my suspicion of a ghost blogger of a child but never in my blog did I mention the name of the child at that time, I conducted the study. Kaya kung may pumiyok, siya ang nangitlog.
I am not also fully convinced that the Kid blogger wrote all what you read in his blog. Sabi ko sainyo, take a hike. This time, akyatin ninyo ang Mt. Apo at bumaba kayo, HINDI pa rin ang sagot ko.
There must be a collaboration between the father and the son. Nothing wrong with that.
Ethical implication? Anong ethics. There may be misrepresentation. Is it a crime?
And as I have said, don’t point with your index finger because the four fingers point back to you.
