Dear mouse,
There was this study in the British medical Journals that debunked seven medical misconceptions that even doctors accept as truth.
1. Reading under dim lights ruin your eyesight
Were you ever reprimanded by your parents or old folks while reading under dim lights? Up to now, I still believe that the reason why I am wearing prescription glasses was because of my habit of reading without enough lights.
The study however said that except for the eyestrain, the eyesight will be back to normal since there is no evidence to back up the belief.
2. We use only 10 percent of our brains.

The study said that it had not identified which part of the brain is non-functioning.
I also do not believe this because even I am asleep, my brain is working. It has never been idle. People who are stressed feel that their brains are always running so that they pause for a few moments to rest their mental faculties.
What about you? How many per cent of your brain are you using?
3. You should drink at least eight glasses of water a day.
I feel guilty when I do not drink much water but the problem is I go to the bathroom more often.
The study said that it did not indicate that there are also intakes which are mostly water, like juice, milk and soda.
There are seven, but I feel that we still believe in the three abovementioned.

I use 1 percent of my brain. hahaha. kidding.
But you are right about stressed people feel that their brains are always running. That kind of feeling contributes to my light sleeping (light sleeper na kasi ako).
I hope it wont go as far as insomnia. Shucks.
i think the brain myth isnt about the brain, but about human memory. the claim is we can remember more than we actually do, if we apply the correct methods.
the eye sight thing is interesting. i’m guessing that the problem here is why there are large numbers of people with less than perfect sight. it can’t be illumination… i personally think its TV :)
actually, yan ang sinasabi sa akin ng aking mommy nung bata pa ako. i shouldnt watch too close to the TV. when i was a kid, wala akong remote control, so malapit akong manood ng TV.
i wonder if there is some evidence of that!
*heh*
